A successor to the show, In Pursuit with John Walsh was announced in early 2018. On April 18, 2003, the results of DNA tests verified that the bodies were Laci Peterson and her son Conner. The autopsy on both bodies was performed by forensic pathologist Dr. Brian Peterson (no relation to the Petersons). Sherman was sentenced to fifty years in prison in 1992, but died of a heart attack after serving almost four years. The case was featured in the Forensic Files episode "Dinner and a Movie." Chandler was identified as the killer when his neighbor recognized the handwriting.
